TASC Mission Statement/Philosophy Temple Area Swim Club (TASC) is a competitive swim program that exists to develop camaraderie and self esteem, encourages physical fitness, and promotes excellence, to help young people mature into valuable contributors to society. TASC is part of South Texas Swimming, the local swimming committee of USA Swimming, which is the national governing body for competitive U.S. age-group swimming. TASC is Central Texas’ longest-running and largest USA Swim team and was established in 1976. It has a current membership of more than 100 athletes ranging in age from kindergarten through high school. The club practices weekdays and Saturdays at the Temple High School Hardin Swim Center located on N. 31st Street in Temple, Texas. TASC offers a variety of programs that are geared for all levels of swimmers from youngsters learning to swim to national level athletes. TASC swimmers participate in local, regional, and national meets, including: Junior Olympic Championships, South Texas Age Group Championships (STAGS) and the Texas state championships, known as Texas Age Group Championships (TAGS). Upper level athletes may go onto compete in the regional Zone meets, which are held in four areas of the country at the end of each long and short course season. Zone meets help prepare swimmers for the national championships. The Junior Championship, Senior National Championship, and Team Selection Trials are used to pick swimmers for the U.S. National Team, which represents the United States at the Olympics.
